You Drink Stone Brew? Shame On You

A few of us got this email back from them.........
Just sharing with all my fishing friends.

Subject: Ex Stone Beer Drinker

Well, I just found out about your endorsment of the MLPA. I used to drink only YOUR beer, bring only YOUR beer to functions/events. Go ahead and cross me off your X-mas list. I will no longer buy your product.

Hello!
Many thanks for your note regarding the Marine Life Protection Act. Since opening in 1996, Stone Brewing Co. has been a big supporter of local, community organizations, supporting a variety of interests, activities, and deserving charities that benefit a multitude of different community and environmental causes. One such group that we have been proud to partner with since our humble beginnings is the Surfrider Foundation. We realize that their support of the MLPA legislation can be rather polarizing, however they have assured us that they are committed to working with the public and the science community in order to find a balance that protects special marine reserves, while not unnecessarily displacing those who catch fish for a living or for pleasure. They have set up a webpage to address frequently asked questions, which also contains links for submitting comments on current and future proposals, and we encourage you to voice your concerns there so that fair and agreeable solutions can be found.

What a typical, vanilla "try to please everyone" response they gave you. Sounds like something a weasel politician would say. I like Ballast Point brew better anyway! ale......

Should post this on Bloody Decks too. I was just having a discussion that Stone is overpriced anyway and does not cut the locals a break like other hometown breweries are known to do... example Sierra Nevada.

Pretty sure Ballast Point supports fishing.

Side note green flash just went to 4 packs. How lame is that! Two local brewery's just lost my business.

I've spent a fortune on Stone brews over the years. My everyday beer is their Arrogant Bastard. And I mean every day. I even have an Arrogant Bastard cycling jersey.

I see on their website that they claim to be stopping 160 metric tons of CO2 from going to the atmosphere annually. Uhhm, Stone, that's not a pollutant, plants love it, we all make it, it was 5 times higher than now during the dinosaur age, and it has no correlation to global warming. Zero. Zilch.

Stone Brewery seems to have an affinity for junk science environmentalist science. That's too bad, because there are soooo many good beers to choose from. Stone, "You're Not Worthy". Time to go beer shopping...

Stone Brew is over rated, and over priced. Sierra Nevada, and Ballast Point for me. Email sent to them.

Nailed it! Well struck, sir.
I'm digging the Costco idea too. Ima doit.
Everywhere you shop. Make a simple, informative flyer, not rude or profane, explaining the facts.
From now on. NO MORE STONE. Shame too, that's good beer.

wow.

this could really hurt surfrider and stone if it gets enough momentum. they do a benefit for surfrider that raises BIG money for them.

Fishermen drink alot of beer.

The head of HR at stone is a family friend, i'll show her this thread and let her know what's up
