How will bait live?
How long do you think mackeral and sardines will survive in a bucket without a pump/filter system?

There are many factors that determine how long live bait will survive... Bucket size, number of mackerel in the bucket, water temperature, mackerel size, the health of the mackerel, ocean conditions, etc. In general mackerel will survive longer than sardines. But neither will survive long in a tank without a bait or bilge pump. During the winter bait will survive longer because colder water contains more dissolved oxygen. You can make your own bait pump suytem for very little money. It is simple, quick, and a must if you're going to buy or catch live bait.
