LJ 8/26 am..
Launched at 0400. <1ft waves, light wind, south current, 70 degree water. Loaded up on macs at the pier, and also ran into Brad and Tyler. Lot's of croaker and a juvi wsb on the sabiki.. Paddled west, then south to the spot. Trolled a mac, and as soon as I hit the December spot... Yellowtail everywhere. Tried to get Brad and Tyler on the radio, but they were heading North. They didn't touch my macs, so I threw a jig at them... Nothing.. They sink. A minute later my flylined mac takes off. I let it run, and put the reel in gear. FISH ON! I get it to the boat, and the leader snaps.. DAMN. It was a 20+ fish.. I tied on another hook, and threw on another bait. Another hook up, but the leader snaps again... .
Paddled south to the halibut spot, and hook up again on the flyline. PULLED HOOK . NO!!! I threw on another mac and decided to paddle in. North of the hotel I get picked up again. This fish wasn't going anywhere.. Until it ran me into the kelp, but the 25# mono popped it. I boated the fish.. Then, I was happy. 18# on the digi. I saw two rats, and multiple 20+ fish today. GET THEM!
