Bass Thumb
Us weekend warriors have it tough. Seemingly ALWAYS showing up after the bite...along with EVERYONE else. But you do what you gotta do and my day to fish was Sunday. Meet Romspacenut early, make our squid and sit with the rest of the sheep. My bait tank goes out within an hour and Rom allows me some space in his. Definitely something to say about partnering up. Rom starts talking about having to go into work and offers to swap tanks...a very nice gesture. I start thinking about having candy in my pocket asking where are the hungry children.
So I find a spot that's marked up well, pull out the heavy gear and instant bendo. Bass after bass, mostly Calicos at full-on wfo. 3 good grumpies and a sheet load of checkers. One tapes out at 26". The cheapie spring scale says 8.5#. That momma, a 19" Calico and 2- 19" Sand Bass top the charts...all Calicos released. Grumpies went home... My o-fer on one of the big three carry's on. Still waiting for that Avatar shot (and until then it's going to remain blank). For now, I'll have to settle with my Bass Thumb pain... |
