Yaks & Mex Customs
Besides the Visa and vehicle registration, are there any requirments to take a Kayak and/or Mtn bike mounted on roof racks through customs. I cross @ Nogales and have made the trip down to Vallarta many times, but have never had anything of value so visible. Always go through the "Nothing to Declare" lane, smile & wave and hit the toll roads.

I have crossed at TJ and Mexicali with my Yak on top with no problems, but they usually pull me into secondary. Funny thing is that they never ask to look at or in the yak, just the truck.

Good to know. They have some quirks as to the "value" of something being brought in. Hear about big screen TVs and computers, stuff like that. A good case to be made that its just a vacation toy to enjoy the playa.
