Targeting Halibut
Thought about fishing for halibut with frozen anchovies, but not sure if that was as productive as fishing plastics? Also, if I'm fishing anchovies, do people usually drop shot them or carolina rig them?
Thanks so much in advance. Will be drifting from my kayak in San diego bay FYI. |

I have caught two Hali's with fresh frozen dines. One was 17 and the other was 26 both were caught on Guadalupe drop rig in 14 feet of water off the beach. It works and I alway take frozen bait on all my trips, just in case I can't make bait. I have started using gulp 4 inch shrimp on dropshot with a 4 oz weight. I do use the caralina but only on love bait with a 3 to 4 oz sliding sinker, dead bait just tends to tangle.
Just my .02 cents |
