Swells at La Jolla
Really enjoyed launching at La Jolla last week with a 1' swell. Can anyone tell me what to expect with a 3' W swell? My landing technique isn't very pretty.

Here's some good reading info for you, since just a swell height won't give you the whole story.
http://www.thesurfingsite.com/Surf-Conditions.html And while your at it, I look to this site for "Wave" predictions and history, but you really need to remember from these sites that as in the case of waves, you've got your highs and lows, and the charts are more of an average at that time. Wave history and prediction I landed Saturday night at 7:30pm. As I was peddling in to the cove, the swell really carried my Revo, and the "feeling" was that with just a little more speed, I could ride the swell. When at the beach, after waiting for a few waves to go in, I hit the beach unscathed. Within a few minutes of landing, there were some serious breakers coming in. Back to the website data. The history appears that the high point of Saturday PM was 3' waves, but that was probably the average, as some of those breakers were probably a little higher than that. |
