BARRETT LAKE 05/08
Got the chance to fish Barrett and jumped on the ticket. There was a little bit of weather with cloud cover the entire day. I found the water level 10-15ft lower than at closing time last season. It's great to get a visual on all the structure that is typically underwater.
Fishing was really good. My final count was 46 bass, 1 bullgill & 1 crappie with a 3lber being the largest. I ran through a good amount of baits and techniques before I dialed in the bite. Within little time, the bass and I were both focused on the Damiki DPop 70 in Black Holo. This was a new bait, first time using it and by the days end, it was hammered. They were on the Shad pattern, so I also through a 1/4oz War silver head with a 3" Big Hammer #21 - Threadfin Shad. Match the Hatch. Great day overall and already looking forward to getting back out there. Got a few on the 1/4-3/8oz Swimjig/Paca Craw trailer Got a few fish on the WARBAITS Vibration Swimjig Here are my 2 excotics. Lrg Bullgill and a 12" Crappie on the spinnerbait At the launch I found this dead Shad. Match The Hatch |

I'd say 90% of the fish were unmarked (healthy looking). There are a lot of bass in the lake. I spent the entire day working pine arm with plenty of bites.
The top water bite really came together. The popper was the ticket, but I also got a few on the Sammy 100 and Spook. |

Topwater bite! Nice photos brings back memories. We spent a lot of days at Barrett in 2002-2004.
