Bay bassin'.. 3/15

Minus the bass.
It's been a while since I fished, and I wanted to try out my new pod and Madfrog liberator. I tried yesterday afternoon and caught two chunk spotties, but the conditions got bad. I went again this morning, for calmer wind and water. Launch at 0500, and paddled out past the channel. 65-67 degree water, lots of eel grass, and clear skies. I threw a plastic in the dark, for nada. Around 0545 the bites started happening. No spotties, but one corvina on the retrieve that shook off the hook. Another one lost due to a failed hook set. I was able to use my new pod's built in ruler on a couple of bones, and a croaker. Mid column fish, in 8-10 ft of water. Off the water at 0830.

Kelvin, I still have that chute for you. I'll let you know when I'm up in LJ, unless you want it sooner. Just let me know, cool?

Nice bone, but I wonder where the spots went. How'd you like your Liberator?

Yeah it's weird. I fished the south bay a week and a half ago and the spotties seemed to be missing...only had one. But I did catch a few of those ugly lizard fish which used to be rare. Anyone else seem be catching fewer spotties than normal?

Fairly new to the board and yakfishing. I have been striking out on the spotties at huntington harbor and long beach marina as well. Tons of lizard fish. Can those be used for bait? Have fun on the water.
