A timely report

Fished today without clients for the first time in a while. Got to meet up with an old fishing friend Neil and headed out around 5:30am.

Plenty of squid to be had. Not what you would call wide open on fish but I saw a few yellows landed, maybe 6, for a whole bunch of kayakers and a few skiffs on the water. One skiff driver seemed to think he owned the spot and yelled at anyone that even came close, he was such as ass it was actually comical. As I have my past few times out I got a fish on my first drop of a live squid for the day but nothing after that.

I had this beast loaded up by 6:30am on the kayak, stayed out for a bit longer hoping Neil would get one, and testing out my new downrigger but nada after this first fish.

Oh it is also my personal best White Seabass

and it weighed in at 62 pounds.

Eating good tonight.

The obligatory shitty driveway shot.

This on the water shot really doesn't show the size.

You bastard, Jim. Just when I find a viable excuse for Julie's and my fishing lack of success on Labor day, you catch this fish. Well, hoo-yaa to you-aa.

Seriously, though, congrats on gettting the big one.

congrats jim!!!! I think I might have gotten yelled at by the same guy 2 weeks ago....seemed to think he owned the place...jerk!!! My yellow ended up going under his skiff and around one of his lines, and he wasn't happy, and offered no help to get my rod around his lines. He just gave me a very angry pissed off look...! Later he started screaming at all the kayakers that got to within a 100 feet of him...

Whata monster!!!! Thanks for the report!!!

Very nice . A driveway shot with a biscuit like that is fine with me.
Congrats on the PB!

maybe change my plans from heading offshore on a PB.... hmmm.... great fish! But from the amount of congrats on this site... there may be lots of company tomorrow! Maybe we can all attack that skiff with surface irons at the same time.....
