Cedros June 24-29

Was back on the island June 24-29 with Sportfishing Magazine (Doug Olander), IGFA photographer (Adrian Gray), John Bretza from Okuma, and Morgan Promnitz from Hobie. Yes Morgan went on back to back trips hahaha.
Weather was unbelievable almost everyday.
We were lucky to be on the first plane again and after a nice lunch we were fishing by 1:30pm. Another nice Broomtail was caught along the breakwall and several big calicos.
First full day we loaded the yaks into the panga this trip and drove about 10 miles outside of town. Great fishing along the lee of the island. Water was 72 degrees. Great Calico fishing was had by all. Two big groupers were hooked but not landed. Another confirmed hole though which we marked on the Lowrance color fishfinder/gps. We took a break mid day for bbq lunch on the beach. A fresh pot of Biddia (goat stew). So great they guys really enjoyed it. On the way in we were flagged down by a yacht anchored outside of town. Turned out to be Chucky Robberson (Rapala). He was bringing the boat back from Cabo. We stopped and had a few beers. Great time! Good to see you Chuck!
Day 2 we fished the salt factory and airport point for large calicos on the boilers to 8lbs on surface iron. Waves were cranking this day.

Day 3 we went back up the line and had insane flat weather and insane Thresher shark fishing all on surface iron and the Okuma Swish Jig. 5 hooked and 4 landed. They seemed to be everywhere. We were marking them on the fishfinders all day long. Lots of bonita around too and big schools of small bait looked like mini macs.

Day 4 we drove to Waylie in the truck and had unbelievable Calico fishing to 6 1/2lbs. Omar was on fire! Just couldn't stop him. Yours truly was fishing an outer boiler rock and after going 10 in row on large Calicos I hooked a hawg Yellow on the Warblade. 38lbs on the digi after we bled it.

Overall another great trip. Heading back on July 22nd for some more great action. The island is really fishing well right now.

Happy 4th.
