Might I ask where you got it hat information? While this has been a rule for the past few years, it has been a landing specific, or boalt specific or even trip specific rule, particularly targeting multi day trips. I find it hard to believe that the landings would put out an edict like that without a publicised fight with the Border Patrol or INS. That would severely impact their overnight and day and a half business, not to mention the 3/4 day Coronado boats. Just fyi ND it hard to believe but anyone who has spent the ice with me knows I have been wrong a few times in my life.

Is this true. Was just about to book a 3/4 on the Malihini. No big deal for me, just want to have my passport if it'll really be necessary

Call the landing and ask when you book.

Not sure if it's true or not but one of the fish count reports did put this out. Definitely call the landing if you want to be certain. Kind of a bummer but I may have to book a 3/4 day to take advantage of lighter loads due to people not having a passport.

Unfortunately this is probably true. Another revenue hit for SD landings. Anglers will have to foot the bill to cover emptier boats one way or another.

Per the H&M website. Passport is only required for trips 3 days or more. It is recommended to bring passport but not required on shorter trips.

Ah ok today is the day they made it official.
Well I wonder if this will hamper folks and many just won't get a passport? Honestly having a passport opens you up to much more than just fishing. Hard to believe but there is more to life than just fishing! |

I don't mind, it is their waters after all. Just wish they'd get their $hit straight once and for all. They're all over the place

I just got this Email,
Good morning anglers, We have been receiving questions about passport requirements while fishing in Mexican waters and have reached out to the CONAPESCA office in San Diego. Please find their response below: " A Passport [or Passport Card] is required when a foreign citizen enters Mexico's land territory and its territorial waters. Territorial waters are defined as the area up to 12 miles measured from its continental coast line or from the coast line of any body of land recognized under Mexican sovereignty. That is, 12 miles around any Mexican islands, such as the Coronado Islands, Cedros Island, or the Revillagigedo Islands, for example, is also considered Mexico's territorial waters, where, according to Mexican immigration laws, any foreign citizen would be required to hold both a valid passport and a Mexican immigration document (FMM). In addition, we would like to reiterate the obligation for every person practicing sport fishing activities in Mexican waters to hold a valid Mexican fishing license and to observe and respect the established bag limits, as indicated in the poster attached for your convenience. " Should you need any additional information, please contact CONAPESCA San Diego at (619) 233-4324 or visit www.sportfishinginmexico.com |
