Arco Island and La Conchita 4/12/14
Conditions look like they are going to be in line with some perfect launching and landing. I'm launching from the lot to the south of Rincon island and will work my way along the bridge, around the island, then out to the reefs off La Conchita. Open invite for anybody interested.... I can even bring another yak if someone is short a ride.

I may join you along with a buddy. Just debating between there or Malibu. Went out yesterday and looked promising. Will let you know Friday. Where do you park?

I park at the lot right there at the end of Sea Cliff. The ramp down to the beach sucks but you can walk the old road a bit down to a nice ramp. Easy launch right there too

Not are of area for launch. I normally park at rincon beach parking lot and there is a pathway to beach.
Is this the parking lot your referring to? Looks like a hotel. |

I don't go that far North, I park at the lost just South of there a few hundred yards. It's the lot at the end of Mobil Pier Rd, I'll try and put a pic of it up later today. How is the path to the beach where you're parking?

I hope that is the surf but think that may be either Malibu pier area. If that's leo then wow definitely easy and may just launch from county line at that point.

That is where I park and just walk down to the beach and launch then cut out toward the bridge.
As far as Malibu I usually launch Leo but I'd be up for County Line if the surf is decent. |

Yeah that would awesome if that's the conditions. . Ok if you are all down we can do leo or county line. Let me check with buddy to see what he wants to do as he wants to catch some halibut or SB before he leaves for his next stint overseas. Plan for 6am launch?

I'm down for launching out of Leo. What's the bait situation like out there lately, is there finbait to be made? Are there any recent reports from Malibu?

As far as i can see there are decent anchovies, 13-14" spanish for fin bait. Not sure about squid, but with the temp rising maybe there are around.

Enough fin bait to fill your entire fish finder. And also plenty of sand daps if your into that of thing. Ar least that was the conditions the other day.
To me with my very very limited experience it looks promising and saw lots of bait and water temp was good. Could not find the rocks till end of day when heading back in but real targets are the bigger kind anyhow. |
