I went out today. Since it was parking ticket Thursday, the parking options were very limited. I ended up pulling up to the green zone near the restrooms and unloading. I wheeled the yak down the sand and set everything up. I picked up the wheels, returned to the truck and moved to the main parking lot by the Lifeguard tower.
Lots of guys were doing more or less the same. Some geared up in the parking lot and wheeled their yaks to the steps by the restroom. The soft sand is a bitch if you have skinny wheels and more than one yak tipped over trying to negotiate the steps. Coming in, I reversed the procedure. I landed in front of the restroom, grabbed my rods and walked to the parking lot to pick up the truck and return to the green zone. It is a bit of a pain but not terrible. Bob |

pre launch set up?
Trying to figure this out - I don't have a kayak (soon...) so I haven't gone through the motions to know.
At first I was thinking you drive and park with the kayak on the roof or ?? - take it down, grab your gear and take it the beach/water and launch. From reading the posts, it sounds as if the thing to do is drive your car/truck to the launch area (now under construction) take it off the roof, leave it there, then go park. Come back with your gear, set up, then launch. Not sure I'd want to leave my kayak there at the launch area unless someone I trusted was watching it. I see now the use of the wheels/cart -park, unload from the roof, load it up with gear, wheel it to the beach and launch. |

since you don't have to worry about the contrusction problem that will be done soon its pretty easy
1. Drive onto beach and park close to water or another truck. (someone will usually always be there, unless its windy and rainy) 2. Unload yak behind your truck 3. Rig it up 4. Park 5. Get wet and catch some feesh!
