Maiden voyage at Redondo

Met up with my buddy Mahigeer at the hand dock in Redondo.

Frist time getting into the kayak I fall in and flip. I tryed jumping back on to it but no go. Had to walk it back to the dock and try again. Made back on yak and started to paddle. I was planing to fish but was getting to big of a workout from paddling. Found alot of things that need to be fix before I head out again.

The main one was the seat and a much longer paddle....I was told to get a paddel depending on my height and the with of my kayak.

Big thanks to everyone on here who has helped out with questions to get me to this point.

I have alot of work ahead of me...Mainly recovering from fliped kayak and testing out VHF radio.

I'll be out on the wall this lobster season if things go well.

Dont feel bad i flipped my first time out too. Leaned over to put a fish on the game clip and rolled the dang yaked. Lost a $500 pair of sun glasses and two rods. Good thing the tackle box was clipped down.

Flipping is normal. However, the trick is to be able to get into the boat by yourself in case you flip in a swell.

Though it was unplanned, I managed to squeeze in 3 hours this morning at Newport Harbor.

Fished the points outside the harbor and deciding to call it a day -the swells were around 2.5-3ft and made me queasy since I didn't have any breakfast.

No bites on the Big Hammers or ghost shrimp.

Perhaps Dana Point will yield better action this week...

I've launched from that dock a few times, I've never flipped but I've been very very very close.
