Hobie Livewell MOD
One of the things I was a little unhappy about was the how water shoot in
from the bottom of the Hobie livewell. Also if you shut the tank off it pretty much empties out. Talking with the Hobie folks I was told "The design was intended to have the pump running at all times to keep the water fresh, so holding water was not an intended purpose... therefore the little caps for those that want that." I don't really care for some stupid plastic cap which will get lost real soon anyways. I decided to add some pvc elbow and tubing raising the outlet of water higher than the water level so back flow couldn't happen. 2 x (1/4" )female threaded pvc elbow with mips fitting 1 3" section tubing Locate ring holding tsunami pump in place on underside Remove ring Remove pump from well and add elbow # 1 to threaded outlet (the tube thats normally inside the livewell) Place back in livewell and re-connect ring (no pic) Take section of tubing and add 2nd pvc elbow This 2nd elbow will become your new outlet I choose this fitting cuz I had it I believe a fitting is need here so water sdoesn't just spout up and you have a little control of how the water flows Take tube and connect to mips fitting on pump (DONE !!!) Adjust as necessary Hope this helps MikeG

I have been looking for pvc elbows like the ones you have, where did you get them?

OSH
Home Depot and Lowes seems to be hit and miss with PVC fiitings. Like they'll have the male but not the female or they'll have the elbow in 1/2 and 3/4 but not in 1/4. OSH has an EXTENSIVE PVC area. I need a lot when I was installing sprinklers and building a Koi pond
