disassembled reel
I took apart a reel that started to lock-up, was usable but felt like I was pulling something when I wasn't. Was still able to pull in a 2" shovel nose from the beach with it. Took it apart, found a bearing that seemed to be locked up. Now I don't feel like ordering the new bearing (BocaBearings was very helpful in helping me determine the replacement part... http://www.bocabearings.com/bearing-...R688NZZ-8x16x4 ) But here is the reel taken apart:
pic If you want it, you can have it as-is. Send me a PM for either my home or work address and you can pick it up. Last edited by old_rookie; 08-29-2010 at 10:01 AM. Reason: add BocaBearing link |

Soak the bearing in WD40 for a few days & try breaking it loose
