Ed,
where do you park for Newport. I'm going to try to make it down there.

I park in the harbor patrol/USCG parking lot. Can't park before 6am. I actually got a ticket once for it. It's on bayside. If come down jamboree and cross pch it's the next street. Turn left and go about 3/4 of a mile. The parking lot is on the right. Hope you can make it.

How'd it go Ed? Thinking about launching tomorrow but it's a bit cool for me.

Cold, windy, and skunky. First skunk in a while. Only short bites. Once the drizzle started I was over it.

Ugh. Looks like I'll pass this weekend. Thanks for the report.

I might take the wife and catch some mackerel by the bait barge, they are fun to catch on light tackle if you can keep the dogs away and I have a recipe I want to try.

Sunday is probably the day. Supposed to be warmer with some sun.

Have fun. Btw I met you on the water a few months ago coming into NPH. I was in an orange Malibu and we chatted for a bit.

I second that, Ed.

I went out this evening, despite having read your report. Launched at 4pm to some wind.

Short-bite city! I can't even count how many short bites I had. Nothing wanted to stick.

Landed only a small sandie and a small spottie.

Water was right around 60°F.

Headed back in at 8pm.

Wow, rough day. At least I was catching some smalls yesterday at Mission Bay. I think the mistake I made with halibut was not finding sandy bottoms. I need a better ff so I can tell what kind of bottom I'm on. I know I was in a lot of grass in some places yesterday but I must have been close to get two squid cut in half, I'm guessing that was halibut short biting.

Mite... at least you found a couple

Harry... Mission Bay is almost always better spotty fishing, especially in the winter. The edge of grass/sand can be good for butts.

Ed,

Sorry I missed yesterday, work got in the way. Sounds like it was a good day to miss. Maybe next time.
