Del Mar Kelp 1/16/13
Launched the SUP @ about 1100 to sunny skies and smooth water, only ankle slappers in the break so I didn't get wet above the knee. Paddled out to the kelp and saw lots of bait. Got a couple smelt but kept trying for a mac or a dine. Never happened. Bait was busting the surface all around me and I couldn't see what was chasing them but they didn't want my sabiki. Tied on an iron and tried yo-yoing for about half hour for nothing, thought the predators may have been deep. It was silent out there save for the whales about 100 yards out, what a beautiful sight! All in all, I got one tiny calico and a great day on the water, had it all to myself. Off the water by 230 to pick up the kids. Thought I had to be doing something wrong. RK, I did everything you told me to do! Next time...

Fishing from the SUP !
Sounds like we had similar days. What's your PB on the SUP? The bigger ones might be a fun challenge. |

Got it, well, other than a couple big hook-ups and heartbreaks, some nice calicos are about it. Still only been out about four times now I'll keep plugging away at it!
