Cambria 7.03 and 7.08.2023

Arrived at Cambria at 6am
Temp.....52.
On the water by 6:30am
Water temp...57.

Easy/uneventful entry and re-entry after rolling down the ramp.

Second excursion here so i travelled 2 miles straight out to try and mark the 300ft spot and mark structure along the way.

Only got to around 120ft and didnt mark much structure, so i headed back in to about 300-400 ft before the kelp forest, where i hooked onto a 25 inch ling in about 90ft of water.

My initial plan was to sabiki up some bait and troll for halibut but this time around kept pulling up strings of black rockfish, 4-6 at a time until most of my hooks fell off.

Total catch for the day from 7am-11am:

2 lings, 1 keeper and 1 baby.
5 rockfish
40-50 black rockfish, all released.

Next time around i will stick to 75-90 ft.
Chartreuse and sardine colored hookup/tube baits, double dropper, 3oz on bottom and 1-2 oz on top, and some whole squid as backup

Be mindful that after you have a rockfish on board they want you fishing one rod and no more than two hooks.

How late is the season there this year? Seems to be getting shorter and shorter

Nice catch, one of these days I'll have to make it up there.
