Get a torium and have it modded with carbon drags, dog, and new bearings. Boom. You got a Trinidad for 200 bucks.

MXJ and MXL are the same, just one is wider than the other. Both will fish 30# comfortably. 40# will test it's limits. Just becareful not to set your drag preset too high or you'll crush the pinion bearing. The Raptors you can fish about 10# heavier.
Usually the deciding factor between the two would be how much line capacity is needed for the type of fishing you'll be doing. Generally I'd suggest the lighter narrower MXJ for casting jigs. The MXL if you need the line capacity for long or deeper soaks. Also if you plan to fish all mono no braid and need all the mono you can get. But since you haven't targeted those species yet get the Torium or hell even a Sealine 40. Learn to fish for those species first then see if you really need a lever drag imho. You might just save yourself some $.

With spectra you can get plenty of line on a small reel. Almost all of our
Kayak YT and WSB are in less than a hundred feet of water and from the yak They will tow you rather than make long runs like they would from an anchored Boat. Mike |

There's an mx for sale in the for sale forum. Good deal too!

Never used braid before, all my life 100% mono.
Feels like I need to try it now for sure |
