Kisu and kawahagi
Got out yesterday in Zushi, about ten minute drive from the house. Due to the week long holiday called Golden Week (sort of like a country wide spring break), the ocean was an absolute parking lot. Little was being caught.
Ended up with a dozen kisu and 2 kawahagi (whiting and threadfin filefish). Both are very tasty, the kisu making excellent tempura and kawahagi being good for sashimi. I tried using the kisu for live bait, hoping for a hirame (olive flounder, the Japan version of California halibut, very similar), or a magotchi (bartailed flathead), but I didn't even have a bite. In the afternoon the seabreeze picked up and I finally called it quits. To fish two rods, I just put the rods in the rod holders and kept paddling throughout the day, paddle drifted a lot of ground. No big fish but can't complain..... |

Thanks. Forgot to mention- the orange inflatable dude dropped his anchor right in front of the blue boat, then drifted back right on top of him.
Only in Japan can someone do this and the person getting intruded on not say a single word. I'd have been like "REALLY? Can you really be that.... " |
