Irvine Lake 2/18/2008

Well I had debated going to LJ on monday, but I had promised my nephew I would take him out on his new kayak.
In preparation for the March tournament, I took my nephew to Irvine Lake. My nehphew, Matt, is only 6 years old and he got a Mini X for his birthday and has been dying to get out on the water.
Here he is ready to go.

So I told him on the way to the lake, you have to get used to your kayak. If we're lucky enough to catch a fish, then great. Then before I know it, he's paddling away.

I was surprised at how well he did. We paddled almost the whole perimeter of the lake. We only stoppped once as we tied up together and had PB&J sandwiches.
We trolled little rapalas in firetiger and gold 'n yellow from 5 feet of water to 40 feet of water at different speeds for nada the whole trip. Here is Matty trolling for trout.

Anyways, Matt is asking me when we're going again and if we could go and get some halibut, butwe might just hit up LJ in 2 weeks. Can you guys tell the WSB to stay and play until then.

Right on Gabe!!!
This is the kinda report I like.
I hope you bring your nephew Matt to the PN tourney at Irvine Lake.
I know there are fish in Irvine Lake...they do a great job stocking, its just getting lucky to be at the right place at the right time with bait in the water.

Good kayak for Matt.
I see he gets to carry your beer / bait?
