Newport Harbor report, Sun. 6-20
My first kayak fishing trip. Started around 6:00 at the Coast Guard beach, start trolling a big Rapalla on the way to the bait receiver, bang got a nice( my best) 23 sand bass! Not 5 minutes into my trip....I like this kayak thing! Got some sardines and loaded them into my minnow bucket, they stayed alive for 15 minutes
Went outside tha breakwall and south about a quarter mile, see birds, throw my last (dead) sardine out there, get hit and promptly break off what felt like a huge fish. (25 lb line) There was bait jumping all over in about 45 feet of water. I threw an iron for another calico of 18 inches. Finished at 11:30....Great dinner for Fathers day! Man, this kayak thing is fun! Thanks to all of you guys here and the kayakers I met on the water for the advice. Got to go finish my bait tank.... Matt |
