MRDR Halibut Derby
I want to enter the derby , but never fished it befor, was wondering if someone could give me specific directions to a good rahter easy launch point thats close to a bait barge. Whats the fee to ener? Did a lot of kayakers show up last year?

Redondo Harbor has a boat launch and a bait barge as does Marina Del Rey. Google is your friend. Try it.

Ok
So i can launch out of Redondo Harbor and is that area legal fishing grounds for the Tourney?
Like i said I've never fished this tournament before. Thanks |

Yeah, both are fair game. The weigh in is in MDR, so that would probably be most convenent for you.

Mini...your probably not on the ideal board for this question. The halibut derby is a Santa Monica Bay only derby, so your likely to get better responses from baytubers.com who primarily fish the SMB area and where a few of them will be entering and most target halibuts.
Good luck, I fished it several years ago w/Corey and others, got one butt and got and little tie pin commemorating the event. Back then we competed against the boaters, I hear they have a yak only sub-division nowadays. |
