Newport 12/12/15
Fished with Orca Winfrey yesterday with the original plan for bottomfish. To make a long story short, I discovered that my FF battery passed away the night before. It was sad, I cried, crawled into a hole, and realized what a fool I was for not checking 2-3 days prior!
Ok, I didn't really do all that, but I was still pretty bummed. We decided to make the most of the day since it was our first trip in a couple of weeks. We started the day by trying a couple spots I marked on my phone but not much to show for it except for a couple of sand dabs and a short sandie. Shortly after, I was began to feel a little green. The micro swells coming in at all directions was just a little too much for me. So, the plan at that point was to hit the breakwall and docks. We ended up with some rock wrasse, "giant" calicos, couple spotties, and a few sand bass for our efforts. Harbor bass caught on baby brush hogs, and bottomfish on squid. Giant! A better sized dock calico The spottie ran about 15" or so. |

I've only tried for bottomfish once and my FF wasn't set to my liking. It's a learning process I suppose. I need to fish with you! |
