Wader choice, wader vendor choice

With the daylight nearly gone, I'm needing to get out in the dark/cold and am looking at waders.

Bob Wards has less expensive zip wader that was recommended here.

I can't them find anywhere else or a place local to 'em try on. Has anyone bought them from Wards? Are they good waders?

Is Wards good about returns, as I figure to have to buy two and try 'em on and return one?

Hodgman Weir Front Zip Breathable Waders

I am finding this newer, much more expensive item on the Hodgman WWW site. Are they "worth" the doubled price?

Price depends on how much you will use them. You pay for what you get in my experience in waders. I was a fly-fishing guide for several years in the eastern sierra and hands down the beat waders are simms. They come with a lifetime warranty. I think its 40 bucks when you send them to get fixed or exchanged. I used mine over 100 days a year and would last about 2 to 3 years. But if you are only going to be using waders about 20 times a year there is no reason to spend that much on them. One thing you want to look for when choosing waders is if the have articulated knees. Makes a huge difference in comfort.

Anyone ever use "Caddis" brand waders? They appear to have 'em at Bass Pro Shops

You dont move much in a kayak so get something that will keep you dry and or warm if needed. They sell the hodgemens for 40-50$ on ebay and that will last you a long time on a yak. Im gonna get me one too pretty soon and i want a hodgemen.

the "get what you pay for" statement is true, I have had a pair of Simms for about 4 years, they go on the kayak when surf launching or threat of weather, they go to the Sierras about 4-7 times a year they go to the beach when surf fishing, and they are still kickin'...but when I purchase another pair they Will have a zipper....out

Yep, these are what I wear. They work great, love the zipper and fairly affordable.
