I'm thinking until the first day I fish but I'm definitely going to try and hold out for a little longer.

Can always fish Irvine or Corona. Hate to say it but the wife gets me my license for Christmas every year. I mainly fish up North and loosing Pt Dume and the surrounding area totally sucks. I fished there growing up in the 70's on boats out of Paradise Cove & the Malibu Pier. Got a Kayak this Fall and now we are going to loose a great Rockfishing spot. Guess I am going to have to get in at least one more trip.

I doubt if delaying the purchase of a fishing license will have any impact whatsoever. The government will simply wait it out and they know they wont have to wait long. Also, there wouldnt be enough participation. People will get their license regardless as they still want to fish - somewhere. A lot will give it verbal support, but "let someone else take the action". Only my opinion of course and we all know what that's worth.

If both Sharon and Eric agree to hold off buying their license until April 2012
I will agree not to hold off. Deal?

This is a big moral dilemma for me. I really want to come up with a means of retribution. Poaching is a hard pill for me to swallow and abstaining is not an option!

I have no problem or conflict dealing with the morality of fishing Kali under my own terms.
- This justification comes after witnessing the a$$ raping that all Kalifornia fisherman experienced by way of the Corrupt Politicians - Blue Ribbon Task Force and Corrupt Science Advisory Team. MLPA I have more respect for Mexico - at least you know what you are dealing with. ----------------------- I have the utmost respect for you guys/girls and would never tell you what to do, or how to do it. You all will make that decision individually for your own self. I don't judge. Give careful thought what you choose to state publicly regarding license renewal - if, how, and when. ----------------------- Also - be sure you know how to correctly fill out those DFG Declaration Forms. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/enforcement/en...claration.aspx

looks like only 31 people even bothered to participate in a poll, let alone actually taking any action at all. Intent does not equate to action. It would not surprize me a bit if the Sports Fishing Industry i.e. half-day cattle boats e.t.c. were allowed some sort of special use permit in spite of the new laws and pass the added cost on to the consumer. It would be no different than a fuel surcharge that some already employ. The sad part is, that people will pay it. The only meaningful demonstration would be 100% total abstinence which will never happen and even if it did, the enviromentalist would claim a victory. You would be more likely to get them to repeal the sales tax or for you to win the lottery. Constitutional depravity? sure "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of game fish". Impact on the environment? How would you even prove such a thing, not withstanding how many years of research any study would take and with inconclusive results? Maybe we should all just move to Nevada.

Sorry guys, MPA or no MPA, I am going to fish, can't help it. I can only hope that we can get the rules changed through appeal, voting in a new governor, electing the right judges, or through time.
I seriously doubt that a few folks not buying licenses will change their mind. In fact, I would think it would make them happy. It is their overall agenda anyway, right? |

If I could wait to buy my license just to fish LJ, I would.
Although I still will prolong it as long a I can, unfortunately, I have good surf fishing a bike ride away that I never brought up in the MLPA railroading fiasco that was brought upon us. So, I have to buy one before I eat perch tacos or corb ceviche. Still a bitter pill to swallow...so, to the BRTF...
