Hey guys. Is it legal or illegal to fillet your fish
at the beach? Thanks. |

Depends on where you are? I imagine your speaking of California.
Here in Costa Rica, on the water, no problemo. Makes for keeping your filets cooler fresh. I would imagine it's legal to clean your fish once landed on shore there in Cali. Probably can't just discard the carcass anywhere but a proper location. Each State has their own rules on transporting. Curious to hear from the locals. IIRC you are suppose to leave a patch of skin to make the fish identifiable as well as a minimal length.

In newport I know you will get a fine for cleaning fish inside the Harbor. If the cattle boats are not finished by the time they get home they Park outside the Harbor and finish up. Don't know if there is a law against doing it on the beach but I'm sure some one will complain if you stab nemo in front of little timmy
