Jumping YFC

In the harbor I often see fish jumping. Yesterday I got a good look at one and am sure it was a yellow fin croaker. Are these running from a predator or do they just jump for the hell of it? I always try to put a lure in its path but its beginning to file like I'm wasting my time.

They're trying to get some sun.

The could be getting chased or chasing bait.......only one way to find out. The day you give up is the day the mystery fish will be cruising byyyyyyyyyy.

I can tell you the ones you'll see in Dana Point Harbor are Mullet. Maybe same wherever your talking? Fun fighting fish if you can manage to get em hooked on your line.
