Foldable sails, they any good?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kayak-Sails-...YAAOSwL7VWk0YT

So like any one of us I like to save as much $$$ on my kayak gear purchases so I can purchase more kayak gear! Anywho, has anyone ever used this type of sail? This exact brand in particular? I realize that this is a Chinese knock off, but it seems legit enough to make the paddle to and back from the spot easier.

I took a similar one to Baja, but could not use it. I paid about $75.00 if memory serves.

The direction of the wind was such that it would have taken me away from the camp.

I think it is useful at times. I think unlike real sail kits, the kayak does not need a keel. It looks like

When fishing and casting, it could be an issue, however, if the Mirage Drive fails (see Tony's Baja report), it can get you back to shore, depending on the direction of the wind.

I am selling it as part of the kayak package, but if it is not wanted, I will give it a try again.

I've got no intentions of using it while fishing but only for the paddle back to launch or to the spot. I saw that report. Sucks! I already feel beat after a long day paddling my stealth. Can't imagine doing in it in PA. Good luck with your sale. That thing's gotta go!

Thanks for the good wish.

What I meant was even at the folded position, when it sits on the front hatch, it may cause tangles with the fishing line.

You definitely don’t want to have it inflated during the fight with a fish.

Like I said the jury is still out, until I personally try it.

This sail does not tack at all and is only useful downwind. If the wind is in your favor then it will work. if not.....
