LJ Shores 5.9.07 pm Pre tournament Fish

Caught this guy on my one and only greenback, just around sunset. The mac was jittery for for about five minutes when all of a sudden the reel had a constant zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, set hook and game on. At first I thought it was a small yellowtail but the closer he got to the boat the heavier it became, really bent over the rod. At color I was happy to see that silver shine. 41.7# on the digital scale

Nice fish! I was out in LJ yesterday afternoon to christen the new yak ("I christen thee... the Flying Wasp") and found the macs to be in short supply. So short, in fact that I never was able to jig up anything other than smelt. Saw a bit of surface action out in front of the hotel and threw a surface iron while soaking a smelt... all for nada. Steady current heading south. Talked to a guy in a small skiff that caught an 8-10 lbs. yellowtail, but alas nothing for me. On the plus side, it was a beautiful day on the water and I'm psyched about my new X-Factor.
