la jolla 12/8/12?

thinking about heading out to la jolla on Saturday to try my luck at some rockfishing. looked at the surf forecast and its saying 2-3 ft. this will be my first time launching from the beach.... so the question is, is that manageable? thanks guys

6 or 7 feet is manageable

if you have a big set of nuts. always wear a life vest. we do not want to recover your kayak with live vest on board , without a body. i am no expert , but all hell could be breaking loose on west side beaches , and protected coves like lj ,are manageable as far as surf launches: kayak-surfer:.

Thanks guys... I'm think I'm going to give it a shot. If I show up and it looks to harry for me I'll just give it a go another time. And for sure I'll have a pfd. I have a cheap one at the moment, any recommendations on good pfd for kayak fishing?

watch the camera

of course check the reports. report could be 3 or 4 feet , and at the lj launch might only be 1 - 2 . i think you will be ok this saturday. the storm has moved on . i have been looking at current reports for north Los angeles and it is pretty small. lj should be similar.

Never under estimate ankle slappers

Let me know if you are free next weekend to take another run at it.
