Bubbacee7 April 21 SD Bay Report

Ok fishing family quick report from today. Fishinmike and I did SD bay today. We launched from the shelter island wading beach. Was a beautiful morning. Water was cool but definitely could tell summer is coming. No breeze. Water like glass and when the sun came up it was warm. Bites were far and few between so much so I tried trolling. Thank God for mackerel. Fishinmike caught a toad Sandie. Lost his net trying to get a picture. Good thing I took the picture otherwise he would have lost his phone. Breeze picked up at about 9:50. Not much biting but still great to get out.

Fishinmike: 7 sandies
Me: 2 spotties, 2 macks, 2 lizards, 1 sea snail (how does that happen).

Navanax

That is a Navanax. They are predatory sea slugs. Still a pretty rare catch unless you snagged it. Was the hook in the mouth? It is hard to see. I see these all the time in the shallows of most marinas.

Good to know Tak100. I believe I hooked the mouth but don’t quote me. Definitely not an expert.

Yep, they are all over Dana Point Harbor. I've had them eat my bottom bait before.
