Sawhorses for storage
I want to store my Outback upside down as recommended by the manual and was thinking of buying a couple of these:
http://www.harborfreight.com/Foldabl...l_s1021_c2616b For you DIYers out there. How could I make this work for the 30 or so inch wide hull of the Outback? I'm sure there is an easy way to widen this. |

I bought a pair of Husky brand real similar to that ans used big zip ties to attach a board to the top. you could probably run deckscrews into the top also. I happened to have a board with carpet on it that I had used for kiddie protection around my fireplace hearth and it works great.

I'd just get these, they adjust to a suitable width:

I made up a set using brackets and lumber from Home Depot. These don't fold up so if you need that, it won't work for you. Pretty inexpensive and you can make them any size you want.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. As much as I'd love the expandable HD versions, they cost $60 for the pair. These harbor freight ones have a coupon for $9.99 each. I am thinking along the lines of maybe using a thick pvc and cutting it in half longitudinally. that could rest on top of the sawhorses maybe.
I wonder if it's ok to support the yak closer to each end where it is narrower. You think? or will the boat sag? |

I used the husky sawhorses and covered with carpet which helps sliding it off and on. I lined up the saw horses under my scupper holes then secured both saw horses with 2x4's in each side because they kept sliding around and moving out of place when i was unloading. Now i just back my truck up to the sawhorse and slide the kayak out of my truckbed onto them. Much more stable as a single unit nowimage.jpg
