Cracked yak
I have a small leak in my prowler13. I tryed a marine sealant and silicone but they both fell off before i hit the water. I wana try and repair it myself. I dont live close to a kayak shop that will do that kind of work. Do you guys have any recommendations on a sealant or maby a plastic weld.
What would be the best way to fix this? Thanks |

fix it!!!!!!!!
I have a hobie Quest that has alot of miles on it. You need to get plastic from the same manufacture and the same color. that is important! clean the suface around the area really good . use a sotering iron and melt or weld the crack. then melt or weld the extra plastic over the crack. inside and out. you can file or sand any rough areas left over.

Thanks..I thought about that. I only have access to the outside of the crack. Do you no where i can find this type of plastic? or a type that is equal to it? I dont care if it looks ugly as long as it is water tight.

Well that is no crack, that is from dragging the kayak.
I am sure the guys at OEX could fix it for you no problem, at least then you know it is done right. I am sure they also have some plastic from cutting hatches that will work, maybe they can mail it too you. You can also call OK and get some either from hatch cutouts or they also have welding rods. http://oceankayak.stores.yahoo.net/weldrod.html Here are some instructions on how to do it. http://www.oceankayak.com/product_support/repair.html
