First Ling @ LJ 5-14-2014
Me and a buddy woke up at 130 and made thr trip to La Jolla, on the water at 3ish launched to ankle slappers and smooth water. We got out to the grounds and made bait easily. We decided to drop some squid on some glow jigs and send down a dropper loop with a mac. Bait was so think on the kelp edges it was tough to get the glow jigs down without getting our squid stolen. Fished for the ghosts with no luck until the sun came up, so we switched gears to chasing YT. We were both fliyling macs and cruising up the kelpline and my reel started screaming, my buddy is yelling and im excited and just holding on waiting to be able to get some line back, and I see a sea lion break the surface with my mack in its mouth, this happened 3 more times to both of us in the coming hours we got fed up and discouraged so we decided to fish rockfish so at least the skunk wouldn't smell so bad. My buddies battery died on his FF so it was up to me. I searched for a while found a nice big rock pile and dropped my rig down with some squid on it....AND Bam something slammed it as soon as it reached the bottom so I begin winding and I feel shakes all the way up and strong solid tugs. I got it yakside and pulled it in and I had just landed my first ling. So my trip wasnt for nothing and I finally landed a fish I had wanted for a while. Still no YT to report butThanks for reading. The ling came in at a solid 25.5"

Nice catch dude! They all taste the same, but if you can tell the difference... you should be on America's Got Talent.
