Red Tide
Launched at 6:15 A.M. today with just enough surf to soak me to start my session. Bait was tough for me, but was able to catch 2 greenies and 1 spaniard. Started trolling all over the place for nada. The red tide is nasty, and I hope it doesn't hang around like it did a couple of years ago.
It was still great to be out there even though I almost "got my lunch" coming in. The dogs weren't an issue today. There's always tomorrow. Out! |

I agree. Red tide looks like tomato soup.

Looks like there's a bloom starting off Dana Point too.
Laguna is still clean and green, but sub-60F. |

I think there is a good chance that a red tide is starting to bloom at LJ. Last Wednesday night I saw the strongest bioluminance I had ever seen, not near the launch but in deeper water. Dirty water doesn't glow in the dark.

Nothing like watching a couple glowing mako's circle you on the paddle out Saturday morning .
Tman would have baited them. I chose not to .
