Post your drink/snack cooler ideas here!

Just wondering what you guys are using as a cooler during your day trips. Seems like you gotta bring a couple beers and a sandwich ever once in a while or it just isnt fishing.

I have a cobra explorer that has an 8" center hatch with a plastic bucket that fits in it, could be cool but probably wont hold enough, and i would like to keep that for my cell phone, keys and wallet. I could always put a small cooler inside my front hatch but it seems like it would make rocking waves and transporting clunky and irritating. I keep seeing this bobber cooler on craigslist and it seems like a really cool option, could just throw it in the front or back while paddling and drop it out whenever drifting live bait to free up space(might get in the way of landing a fish).

Let me know what you guys run so everyone can get good ideas.

I use a soft sided cooler made for like 18 cans. That means it hold a six pack of beer, a re-frezable ice pack, some fruit, a sandwich, and a couple waters. It fits behind my seat back and the bait tank. It's easy to reach and keep the Beer cold all day. What else could you want when your out trying to catch fish and 2 miles out of La Jolla.

Do you use the soft sided one so it will mold to the contour of your kayak or just cause you had it around? Have a pic?

Nice ideas guys keep em coming!
Fish, what malibu are you using?
And alan, i love those roll top coolers, one of those with enough ice can make beer taste colder than the freezer and somehow they never freeze(i hate beer slushies)
Also jeff, i love the gatoraid idea. A grape gatorade and a cliff bar would be plenty on a short day when i need to drive home right away and cant drink too many beers.

Yes it was to you fish11, and i love the x-factors, almost had one of those before i scored two explorers for the same trade! Now my dad, my brother and i can all go fishing together. And a boat is a total must if you want to catch trout up here in the summer, you need to get your lure down low(leadcore or downrigger). Unless you have an awesome cast, then you can just do a sliding carolina rig from the shore with a blob of powerbait and it works somewhat all year.

I got the X FACTOR used last May. It's and older model so it has the slanted rear hatch and does not have the center high hatch that can be turned into a built in bait tank. Still it has a lot of storage space and is super stable. It handles the surf great. It is a little slow because of the flatter bottom but I just see it as a chance to get a better workout. After reading a lot of post on BWE and learning all the different scenarios that are involved in kayak fishing the ocean and surf landings, I knew the X FACTOR was the Yak I wanted. I got a great deal and picked it up for $500 with paddle seat and fish finder. I am constantly upgrading all my gear. That I think is normal to most of us. Tight Lines

This is what I use

I like this one. Simple soft case with hard inner liner. Bottom fits cans and H2O and top for sandwiches and snacks. Divider ensures no soggy sandwiches. Small but big enough for my needs. Bungee behind my bait tank and off I go. Has zippers for storage to but I never use them.
