8/28 La Jolla Report

Got to the pier just before daylight. My turn for bait tank failure. Ended up pouring water into tank every 10 minutes or so to keep 4 macs happy. Decided to stay inside so off to the condo. No ff but caught yellow in front of condo (probably 150ish feet of water). Hooked up around 9 and back to the shores by 10. Beautiful launch under full moon with ankle slappers. Considering the heat, probably good I had a short day. Felt more like the pacific side of southern baja. Also caught a skippie so I am sure bft are around.

Not as glamorous, but a skipjack from a yak is still an El Nino exotic!

Thanks for the report!

Jim I saw you out there. I had a heck of a time making bait. Got on the water at 5:45 and head out with 10 greens at 9:30. The 10 were shredded by 11am. All side bites. I landed one 24" bonito only to loose it after bleeding it to a dog. Most frustrating day ever for me. First time at LJ.

Friday made bait faster. Trolled all over. Not one bite. Rough intro to LJ. Looks like yaks got yellowtail both days. Long drive and big commitment from Ventura.
