Newport 12/2/18
Headed out with my youngest son today. On the water at 640 and just beat the flurry of float tube fisherman have a tourney today. I knew that was going to make things a little tougher. Water was chilly and dirty with lots of salad everywhere. outgoing tide was really flowing making it difficult to make good drifts. Poor float tubers we’re getting pushed all over. We fished from the coast guard station down the buoy line to the jetty. From talking to the float tube guys we actually did pretty well getting 11 bass and the hali below which is my PB and put up a heck of a fight on 10lb line. Tried a few things throughout the day but only got bites on hookup baits. Off the water by 10. Ended the day with customary in n out. Great day!

Nice fish! I was out in Newport a couple of weeks ago and only had bites on Hook-up baits. Tried a variety of others, underspins, Berkley Gulp, Big Hammers, Keitech (sp?), and others. I think Hook-up have partnered w/ the NPH bass to be the exclusive bait for the rest of the season. These corporate sponsorship deals have gone too far...

Thanks for report! Was thinking of fishing this weekend but rain will make this nasty. I seen to catch all my fish on hookup baits, absolutely love those lures!
