Sailfish Smackdown 2024
The 2024 Sailfish Smackdown is scheduled for the 27th of January. The cost of a ticket has gone up to $200! I would guess there will be fewer than 40 contestants which means the odds of winning are better than in previous years. The prizes have not been posted yet, but I would bet first place will win $5k. More than one year a first-time sailfish catch won the tournament. All it takes is luck to be the first to catch one, and nobody catches more than one and you win.
The weather is normally sporty during this tournament. There are several places to find rental kayaks. https://www.extremekayakfishingtourn...chedule.html#/ |

Sailfish Smackdown ticket price lowered back down to $175? That's an indication of a low turnout. Next weekend looks sporty so far.

Thanks for the positive thoughts. Between skin cancer and a marraige $eperation agreement that is $till un$igned.... I am not in the $tate of mind to be participating.
The weather for Satuday is bumpy, so they are rolling the dice that Sunday will be better. https://www.extremekayakfishingtourn...chedule.html#/ |

Congratulations to the winners!
The weather turned out to be beautiful on Sunday, so weather wise the tournament was awesome. Unfortunately, the fishing was slow for the approximate 40 anglers who participated.
Congratulations to the winners! 1st Greg Nolan Sailfish 12:12pm $2,000 Nautical Ventures and a Custom Drift wood Sailfish Trophy made by Powercore Rods 2nd Jonathan Lisko Sailfish 1:25pm $1,000.00 Turbo USA and Nautical Ventures First place has been $5000 in the past. With fewer sponsors, the lower prize is indicative of the sport falling off its peak of popularity. |
