Best Deal at the Fred Hall Show
The "Best Deal" at the Fred Hall Show is to join the CCA-CAL... That's the Coastal Conservation Association.
Pete Gray on "Let's Talk Hook-Up" mentioned the upcoming CCA launch at the Fred Hall Long Beach Show on his broadcast last Sunday. He and Rick with Bill Shedd from AFTCO will do a full special on the launch of the CCA on this next Sunday's show at 7am on the Mighty 1090. Western Outdoor News has an article about the CCA in the latest issue. The CCA will have a big tent outside the main entrance and at the Pine St. entrance too for our membership launch. For $50 you get your annual CCA membership ($30 value), quarterly newsletter, admission to the show, CCA window sticker, custom printed vinyl zipper pouch, and a booklet of fun and valuable vouchers worth north of $150. Some of the highlights include a FREE entry to win a Jackson Kraken kayak and a one-day guided trip with Jim Sammons valued at over $2,000. CCA members can enter to win a Shimano prize package that retails for over $1200 simply by dropping off their entry voucher at the Shimano booth. A deluxe fire-lined safe, rods and reels are also being offered up as FREE drawing opportunities. Maui Jim and "Let's Talk Hook-Up" radio are giving away His and Hers sun glasses to some lucky CCA member. Aftco and Cal Star are offering very nice discounts on purchases made by CCA members at the show. Other manufactures are giving away free products, offering discounts and much more. Costa is giving away a very special fishing themed music CD to all CCA members. A copy of Bill Poole's book "Fish or Cut Bait" is also to be offered. Lots of great vouchers and something for everyone. In addition to the FREE show admission, each new member will receive this pocket size booklet as part of their membership packet. The offers are valid only during the Fred Hall Shows and have a legitimate value well in excess of $150 plus entry into raffles with thousands of dollars of product being awarded. If any of the BWE family wants to get involved with this new organization please contact me...we are looking for volunteers to man the membership tent at the front entrance at Long Beach. We are hoping for 3 hour blocks of volunteer time if you are available. This is a sorely needed organization in Southern California since the decline of United Anglers. We need some kind of representation to defend our angling rights...and who better to be the stewards of the resource than the anglers themselves? CCA works to protect, not only the health, habitat, and sustainability of our marine resources, but also the interests of recreational anglers and their access to the resources they cherish! The CCA is not only an advocacy group defending your rights, but it also builds artificial reefs, provides science for advocacy, gives out youth scholarships, and sponsors and supports fish hatcheries. This is a national organization that has been around since 1977, covers 18 states and has over 110,000 members. A strong business foundation guarantees that the CCA has the resources and staying power to carry out it's mission. PLEASE JOIN THE COASTAL CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION ! ! !

Fred Hall is March 4-8 in Long Beach. I have talked to Jim about this organization and he has done his homework. He comes at it from the point of view of someone that has seen the ugly inner workings of the closure process and the un-scientific approach taken by special interest groups looking to keep us off "their beach" or out of "their view" by using closures and questionable bag limits. CCA is legit. They have a proven track record of increasing habitat quantity and quality in other states and improving fish stock while preserving access. United Anglers fought the MLPAs but ran out of funds and steam. Here's a link to check them out for yourself http://www.joincca.org/ They know how to get the job done. Help out if you can. If you can't then at least sign up & spread the word. Last edited by Hunters Pa; 02-12-2015 at 02:52 PM. |
