Thanks for posting. It brings back memories. I miss surf fishing on the east coast. There's nothing quite like getting into a run of 20-30lb chopper blues in a feeding frenzy, or stripers, or the big channel bass when they are running. They get bigger than our WSB. All within casting distance with a 12' rod. I used to love pier fishing in NC, too. There was some big game fish taken from piers, like king mackeral making smoking runs and sometimes spooling heavy tackle.

Definitely looks like fun, especially fishing those poppers. Thanks for sharing.

I grew up in the Pine Beach and Seaside Park, and we used to surf and fish Island Beach State Park all the time. Awesome spot. Brings back a lot of good memories taking Dad's truck onto the beach, or my buddy Harold's boat across the bay and anchoring in Tice's Shoal, then walking across the hot sand to get to the water. I never had a day like that though! Never really a fan of Blue Fish, but they were sure fun to catch!!

Wade one thing I learned is that most people in San Diego arent from here!

I spent many a day catching Blue Crabs and snapper in the bay and Toms River. My mom's side of the family have lived in Manahawkin (Ocean Acres and near the bridge taht goes over to LBI), and my uncle used to take my cousin and I fishing off his skiff for fluke and flounder, and then we would hit up a sand bar at low tide for little necks.

Truly good times!
