Did Everyone Stay Home?
I kept watching for the forecasted wind that never seemed to show so I launched the yak Sat afternoon and ended up just outside the bay (lots of damn sailboats!).
Using live dines produced a short butt (15") and a nice Spottie. Fished a local lake early Sunday morning for a couple of hours walking the shoreline and got (6) bass on 4# line. I dumped a decent one. They are staging right now... Not bad considering I had written off fishing this weekend on Friday night. |

Nice fish.
I almost stood home but not because of the winds, I screwed up and set my alarm on 430pm and not 430am. I ended up getting up close to 7am so I skipped LJ and ended up at Cabrillo. |

As waters warm up, Bass will move into shallow water (stage) and go into a pre-spawn mode. Males will stake territory, build nests and try to attract a female to mate with. They're vulnerable as they'll attack anything to protect their spot as well as feed coming out of winter. It's a great time for some of the best quality bass fishing in the Country.
