Fish Finder Help. . .
Any thoughts from the community to help a newbie. Just purchased a Malibu X factor. Cool rig, just need to do more than calico bass. Wanted to hear thoughts on fish finders. What brand, best mounting technique, etc.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |

You get what you pay for
Its really simple; buy the best fish finder you can afford.
You pay for.....Power, screen definition, and color, In some combination. The better of each you get, the more you pay. The basic ones show depth to something over 200ft in salt water, structure, bait. But sometimes it is tough to see fish vs kelp, etc. Also, it takes power to see a fish down deep in salt water. Finally, if you stretch for a nice one, get a nice warranty....The kayak environment is really tough on this stuff... Good luck Cowboybill |

CROCCODILE
If you use the right color crocc. you won't even need a fishfinder, it does it all for you. You just sit back and real....

I have both cuda 300 and garmin 140, like the 140 better kinda wished bought garmin 160c which is the colored version.
Regarding mounting there are wet mount, through the hull goop, and directly to the water, third option has worked best for me. |
