numb leg/back sore
I went on a longer trip than i usually do (on a tandem and not the usual x factor) and my left leg went numb and my back became sore (like i need to crack it but it won't crack) any of you ever get that and have a solution for this?
this totally blows and is a huge bummer for me going out far. any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Rest and a chiropractor. If you're near SGV I know an amazing sports doctor that can help. I've had similar problems and this guy fixes me up every time. He'll help you understand what's going on and how to prevent it.

C'mon Ed, it can't be the most dangerous fishing platform, and a medical aid device at the same time! I think Andy nailed it - fat wallet may be the problem!

A better seat can help. I have a real stable kayak so I some times get on my knees and stretch, cross my legs and lean forward, or do a slow gentle twist while on the water. If you have a preexisting condition it might be more difficult. Mike

I have had the same problem, the air seat or a Hobie. I have a Sex Factor and when I tried a Hobie, I didn't have that problem.

A better sea can most definitely help as can elevation on the forward end of the seat. This is what makes certian boats more comfortable than others (Like the Trident 15 over the P15).
The new seats in the Wilderness Boats have Leg Lifters, these are a huge help of eliminating the problem you experienced. |

Sounds like sciatic nerve pain, likely causes by a disc slipping out a bit... 4-6 weeks should be about max for that to be gone, but hopefully much sooner...if it lasts longer or intensifies to a point you cant function or sleep, then go see a doc for some meds and PT. I've had it for as little as a week, then gone, but my longest stint with it was 8 months. No fun and really easy to gain weight when your down. Hope you get thru it soon.
