Went out today - but not at La Jolla
Met up with friends who were camping up at San Elijo. Those are some big waves there - explains all the surfers. Ended up with a skunk. Forgot my frozen squid and chovies at the beach. Was trying to make bait then heard some splashing in the water and saw more bait fish. Kept chasing the bait fish until I spotted some looking at my sabiki and turning away. I think they were spawning from all the stuff floating in the water. Rolled it good coming in, I don't think there was any way to avoid it with that surf.

It was more brown. When I first come up on it, I thought some bought emptied its waste - but there was no smell, and the fish were only around that stuff, not in clear water. Was not green like the algae we've been seeing.

I really need to redeem myself to the family and bring something home to put on a plate. SD Bay stuff is not plate-able.
