Taking my yak out for my and it's 1st time this weekend.

I'm taking my 1st kayak on my 1st fishing trip (on a kayak) ever. I want know what tackle I will need for la jolla(hook sizes and weight types and sizes.) I have salas 6x jr's in blue/white and scrambled egg. Also if I find myself fishing for calicos, what will I need for lead heads. Any good colors for plasitcs? Also, is this website accurate?

This wasn' my original post but I didn't want to crowd the board with stuff posted by me...

Deal! But save the trolling motor for bass lakes, it will get more respect there. Good luck on Sunday, I hope you bust it wide open and get the season started.

Older FND

Sweet! I bought my (older FND) back in December 2005 and I have been pimping my yak. Upgraded seat, werner paddle, etc. I have been out about 12 times in San Diego bay and I love to fish on my yak. I know you too will be happy you made the big step of ownership.
Good fishing and Good LUCK! 8)

I was wondering the same thing. But, I guess that's what the Scotty mounts are for, on the hatch... It looks tough to sit in like that, though. That's just me. But, what a deal!

nm- looks nice, and clean. Now, all you need is some dried yellowtail blood on it! See you out there! And congrats on the new kayak!

Nathan,

Your intention not to clutter the board is a noble one, but you may want to refrain from editing your original posts… It throws everything upsize down and causes major confusion.

LJ Map is cool, that’s the place.

Your iron selection is dandy. Just make sure you have some extra, as you may snag and sacrifice some to bottom and kelp – at least I always do.

As for plastics for calico, I’m no expert by any means. I had the best luck throwing 4” or 5" dark brown top with lighter color belly, and/or orange strip down on the belly. Personally, I don’t think the lead head color matters that much, the bass masters know better…
