South Bay report part II
I headed back to J St. Friday morning to do some fishing and see if the turtle and gill net were still there. My buddy, Copper, caught some bass as well as a nice bone fish and a corvina. We paddled around the bird island and saw a boat near where i reported the dead turtle. I had a cool talk with 3 biologists from NMFS as they recovered the turtle and removed the net. The turtle was one they had tagged and been monitering. The net wasn't one of thiers or any other research net. They found it had rocks being used as anchors. So some one is poaching with gill nets in the deep south bay. That sucks. My buddy looks a little crazed in these shots but that bone fish about kicked his butt. Mike

Hey Mike-
Copper told me today about the Bone fish you guys caught. That is one on my list I've been wanting to cross off for some time. I'm really considering going with you guys this week. |
